Planetwalk: ASPIRE One In Transit to the Moon and a Permanent Home There

On Wednesday January 15th, 2025 at 1:11 AM EST the Falcon 9 Rocket lifted off from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida to travel to the Moon. Through the Interstellar Foundation, the ASPIRE One Record, a carefully curated collection representing the diversity and achievements of humanity including John Francis, Planetwalk and messages from us, is on the LifeShip Pyramid Payload aboard the Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost Lunar Lander. Blue Ghost is spending 25 days in Earth orbit before beginning its lunar transit journey. The lander is targeting Mare Crisis (the “Sea of Crises”) — a vast lunar basin that will serve as the permanent home for our archive on the moon.

The ASPIRE One message contains videos, images, music, and documents that showcase human culture, science, and daily life. Created through our partner the Interstellar Foundation in collaboration with UNESCO and other partners, this archive aims to preserve a snapshot of humanity for future generations.
Mare Crisis, visible from Earth as a dark oval spot near the Moon’s eastern edge, will provide an ideal resting place for our message. The mission represents a significant step in our ongoing effort to create meaningful communications that can span vast distances of space and time.  Lunar Landing is scheduled for Sunday, March 2nd, 2025!
